When an employee wants to create content in your academy or needs to manage existing content, you must assign permissions to this employee. To do this in the Learning Management System (LMS), navigate to People > Managers. Then click on the button Create and add Manager. From the drop-down-menu, choose the user and select the permission group you want to assign to the employee.

Specifically for assigning author permissions, the LMS recognizes two different standard permission groups, namely Internal Author/Trainer and External Author/Trainer.
- Internal Author/Trainer: This permission group gives the employee access to all learnings and evaluations. They can also create new learning items. You do not need to assign separate author permissions to this employee for each learning.
- External Author/Trainer: When you assign this permission group to an employee, they can only create new learning items and then manage them. Under the Authors tab in an individual learning item in the LMS, you can then give an employee with these permissions administrative permissions per learning item. Consider, for example, an online training where multiple employees work together or an internal meeting that is given by multiple trainers.

There is also the possibility to create your own custom permission group for your authors when there are specific needs that do not fall within one of the two standard permission groups.
More information about setting author permissions in a permission group and/or under Authors in a learning intervention in the LMS can be found in the manual in the Knowledge Academy. If you do not yet have access to the Knowledge Academy, please send us a message.
