Customized certificates: a personal sign of appreciation for users.
You can match a certificate to fit your company style by making adjustments or additions: the logo, colour and language. You can also add a personal message to the participant’s certificate. For example, words of congratulations or a compliment.
How can you customize a standard certificate?
In LMS, go to Settings in the menu. You’ll find the option ‘Certificates’ under 'Look and Feel'. The user will see all obtained certificates in their dashboard. It’s possible to set the certificate for completion of a learning item in twelve different languages. In addition to English and Dutch, the languages German, Finnish, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Norwegian, Polish, Swedish, Danish and Flemish are also offered. When you go to the certificate page under Look and feel, the English-language certificate is displayed by default. Click on the dropdown under 'Template Language' if you want to change the certificate to another language than English.
It is also possible to adjust the text on the certificate. By default, 'Studytube presents' is listed above the name (line 1) and 'this certificate for achievement for' below the name (line 2). This text can be changed at your own preference.
A custom message will be listed under 'Your custom message here' when you set this up. This can be set in the LMS for Online courses, Events and Learning tracks when you click on the relevant learning item and then enter the personal message under the heading 'Certificates'. This text is only shown when the relevant learning item has been completed by the user.
It’s also possible to adjust the layout. Under ‘Customise look’, you can add the logo to be shown on the certificate. By default, the logo you set under ‘Academy launchpad image + e-mails’ is used. When you click on the trash can, this image is deleted and you add your own logo. You can also add a background image which is shown behind the text on the certificate. You can choose a black or white text for this background image.
You can also add a border by clicking the dropdown under 'Add a border'. Five different layouts have been developed for you to choose from. These are always displayed in the Academy Style settings. When you click on the dropdown under 'Add a layout' you can change the layout of the certificate. Six different layouts have been developed from which to choose.
You can also set the primary and secondary colour by clicking on the colour. A pop-up will appear where you can choose the colour or enter a colour code.
Develop multiple certificate templates
It is possible to develop different templates and to set up which certificate is generated after completion for each learning item. The certificate which is set as 'Default certificate' is linked to the learning item by default. Under 'Settings' it is possible to choose a different template for each learning item (with the exception of micro learnings).
To set up multiple templates, click on the plus sign next to ‘Template settings’ (Add a new template). A pop-up will appear in which you can give the template a name and set it as the default. You can always change this again when you select the relevant certificate in the dropdown.
You can adjust the text and layout of the certificate per template.
It is possible to display a modified message on the certificate per learning item. If you want to set this up, go to the relevant learning item in the LMS under 'Library content'. You can then add the message under 'certificates'.
When you have made changes to the certificate, you must click on the SAVE button before the changes are visible on the certificates that are generated. It is not possible to change the certificates already generated by saving the changes here. To do this, go to All users and click on the relevant user. Under 'Certificates' you will find an overview of all the obtained certificates of this user and you can generate the certificate again by clicking on 'Generate certificate again'.
Tip: We recommend that you change any adjustments for the Dutch certificate for the English certificate as well. Users can change their own language settings on the dashboard and may receive a certificate in a different layout should the English layout be different from the Dutch one.
